Multi-Ch. Festiva's Been There Done That - The Latin Lover

Festiva's Been There Done That "Steven"

What an outline ...

and what a face and lovely expression !!!

"Everyone tells you to be careful in naming your dogs as that tends to be an indication of what they will become. Well, that is very true in the case of Steven, Festiva's Been There Done That. I knew as a puppy that he was very special and at 4 months took him to a show for exposure and for Debbie Butt to see him and get some pictures. That day we knew there were great things to come !!! The very next day my dreams came to a crashing halt as Steven came in from the yard on 3 legs, not using the 4th at all. The diagnosis was a major cruciate injury possibly needing surgery. I consulted with another specialist veterinarian who said to put him on total crate rest and hand walking until he could see him days later. To do this I dropped him off at my vets every morning on the way to work and picked him up on the way home. After a few days he was still not using it but did stand on it some. After another consult with the specialist, he said continue with the total rest. FUN with a 4 month old puppy! Well, about 2 months of crate rest and hand walking did the trick and he is sound. Today you would never know but I have never tried to course him due to this.

Steven at 4 months, already a real eye-catcher

Steven's show career started in September 2008 with a bang winning Winners dog for a 5 point major at his second show, Douglasville Kennel Club of Georgia under Cliffort Thompson.

and at his first show

Then in April 2009 from the 12-18 month class was Winners Dog and Best of Winners at the American Whippet Club National Specialty under breeder judge Magnus Hagstedt. Steven finished his American Championship in November 2009. Steven also lived for a time in Canada with Kim Pritchard of Cariad fame to finish his Canadian Championship and breed some lovely bitches during his stay. At the 2010 National Specialty I was approached by Arnaldo Cotugno and Annalisa Rovani concerning using Steven and importing semen. After a long conversation where I mentioned that I thought Steven would do very well in the ring in Europe. So after many conversations it was decided that Steven would go to Sobresalto Kennels in Italy for a year. I would bring him over and deliver him personally at the FCI World Dog Show in Paris, France. Steven was exhibited and started his European show career with RCACIB at the World Dog Show. Steven ended up staying in Italy for almost two years and garnered the following championships to be added to his American and Canadian titles. European, Russian, Polish, Romanian and International Championships. He was also the Vice Champion of the World 2011, Winner Donaueschingen 2011, Winner Bundessieger Tulln/A 2011 and No. 2 BIS and Slovenian Winner 2011.

So, I guess the name, BEEN THERE DONE THAT, describes Steven very well.

Steven's breeding career in Europe, United States and Canada has been outstanding producing many winning dogs in multiple countries including the following: BIS Ch. Sobresalto Quann Tramonta O Sole, Sobresalto Standing Ovation, Absolute Mann Seaworld, Sobresalto Qui Si fa la Storia, Absolute Mann Never Give Up, Absolute Mann Betty Boop, Absolute Mann Born to be Proud, Nerejde Isobel, Sobresalto Quann Staje C'me-re, Cariad's The Full Monty, Cariad's Get My Drift, Festiva N Sportingfield Red Stilettos, Festiva N Sportingfield Bobby Socks, Windsheen All Done Up, Sowagla Irish Derby, ... to name a few.

Steven is now home and enjoying a life of luxury. He currently has a new litter coming for Penny Lewis of Bretica fame that we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of. For more information about Steven contact Festiva Whippets.

I send a special thank you to Arnaldo and Annalisa for believing in Steven, taking special care of him during his stay and most of all, falling in love with him. Steven has lived with many people during his career and everyone has made him the dog he is today."

                                                                                                                                Katie Rudolph

Thank you so much Katie for this interesting story and I'm sure, it's going to be continued ...
